Marie Antle, R.N

Vice-Chair, Violence Prevention Avalon East
Site Clinical Manager, Mental Health & Addictions Program at Eastern Health
Originally from Goulds, NL, Marie Antle graduated from the Bachelor of Nursing program at Memorial University in 2008 and has been a Registered Nurse for over 12 years.
The first five years of Marie’s nursing career was spent with Mental Health and Addictions Program at Eastern Health as an R.N, working in the Psychiatric Assessment/Short Stay Unit. Marie then moved into a position with Eastern Health’s Management Team as a Site Clinical Manager within this same program- a role that she continues to be in today. Marie is also near completion of her Masters in Nursing at Athabasca University.
When Marie saw that Violence Prevention Avalon East was looking for new board members, she jumped at the opportunity to become involved. Marie states, “Violence is such a pressing issue in our society today for many people, regardless of socioeconomic status or demographics. Unfortunately, it is also one that continues to need a lot of work as incidences of violence are still far too common and the system often lets victims down when they need it most.” Marie’s hope is that her past experiences with violence both personally and professionally will assist VPAE in bringing forth much needed system and policy changes. She also wants to be an advocate for victims and wants to assist them in seeking and receiving the justice that they so deserve.
“I am very excited to be a part of such an important and rewarding initiative and I look forward to my upcoming future experiences with Violence Prevention Avalon East. “
