Elyse completed her law degree from the University of Leicester in 2014. She worked in London, UK for many years within investment banking (Goldman Sachs and Northern Trust) and as Head of Legal and Compliance for a financial technology start up with offices in the UK, Poland and Ukraine. She currently works as a Senior Compliance Advisor and Articling Student for Laurentian Bank of Canada based in Toronto. In addition to her role within the Bank, she is also assisting in the roll out of a pronoun awareness initiative with the ED&I (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) committee. Elyse is a candidate for the 2022 Ontario Bar call and is currently registered as an articling student with the Law Society of Ontario.
Elyse loves to paint, swim, surf, paddleboard and is an avid documentary watcher. She is passionate about analyzing and advocating legal trends and decisions that have negative impacts on vulnerable groups and minorities. She is inspired by the works of Maya Angelou and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
She has volunteered with the Special Olympics of Newfoundland, Big Brothers and Sisters of Canada and with legal clinics within Tower Hamlets and Lewisham in London for New Immigrants.
She is excited to work with such a well-rounded and driven organization on initiatives that make our community safer, stronger and more inclusive.
