Welcome, Erin and Melissa!
We are VERY excited to welcome Erin Kenny and Melissa Gulliver to the Violence Prevention Avalon East team. We would also like to take the time to thank Canada Summer Jobs for their generous support, making these two new positions possible.
Erin has joined our team for the summer as our full-time Virtual Outreach Coordinator, and Melissa will be part of our team for the next few months, as our part-time Virtual Outreach Coordinator.
Here is what Erin had to say about this opportunity:
My name is Erin Kenny. I am a recent graduate of Memorial University’s Bachelor of Social Work Program. Throughout my social work education, I gained a passion for supporting others to overcome challenges. I want to work with VPAE to increase awareness of violence prevention in our homes, communities and society as a whole.
Here is what Melissa had to say about this opportunity:
I want to work with VPAE because after sharing my story publicly, about my experience with Intimate Partner Violence, it sparked my interest to advocate and bring awareness to my community about what people affected by violent crimes endure and how together we can work towards preventing it.
I am currently enrolled at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, completing my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in psychology and have been working within the public service sector for the last five years. Having a healthy mind and body is always a number one priority for me, whether it be enjoying the outdoors with my puppy or through dance and going to the gym, I am always working towards keeping a healthy and balanced life.”
We are excited to get to know you both, to learn from one another, and go out into our communities in Avalon East NL to empower others to live a happy, healthy life, free from the fear of violence.
